The Army visit our school

On the 12th of November the Army delivered a copy of the Proclamation and Irish Flag to our school  . Also on display was a copy of the Proclamation delivered to the school 50 years ago on the 50th anniversary of 1916.FB_IMG_1447674182657FB_IMG_1447674170495

Horse-Riding

On Friday 23rd October we all went horse-riding. We learned how to care for horses and we had a chance to ride a horse. We had great fun.

Visit to Athlone Castle

We visited Athlone Castle on Friday 25th .September. As you can see from our photographs it was a very enjoyable experience. We learned loads of new historical facts.

Blue Star Award for Drumraney NS

Blue Star Award for Drumraney Ntional School

Vice President of the European Union Mairead Mc Guinness visited Drumraney National School last Thursday and presented the Blue Star Award to the pupils during her  visit to the school to celebrate its successful participation in the Blue Star programme of 2014/2015 .This is the second year that the pupils have been involved in the project.

The Blue Star Programme is a national Irish primary school initiative which aims to foster better understanding and knowledge of the European Union and how it affects the lives of its citizens through classroom projects and activities.

Parents, teachers and members of the local community welcomed Mairead McGuinness to the school, where she was treated to an exhibition of the children’s work and a showcase of their Blue Star projects.

She also enjoyed a musical interlude provided by the talented pupils of the school brass band.

All Island School Choir Winners 2014, Moate Community College also performed a number of songs on the day and were presented with some Athlone crystal from the Principal, Laura Silke in recognition of their great achievement.

The celebration continued during the day with a face painter, ice cream van and magician visiting Drumraney National school.
