Peace Proms 2017

Due to the success of Peace Proms in previous years, we have decided to get the children involved again this year.

Below are the songs the children will be singing for Peace Proms 2017.
Please encourage your children to listen to the songs at home.

We will be attending the Peace Proms Concert in the University of Limerick Sports Centre, on Sunday 5th March at 2pm. It’s expected that the performance should finish around 4.20pm.

Feel free to come along and support them on the day – it really is such a special day for the children.

Music Matters

We have been very busy exploring instruments from the orchestra with Lorcan Daly from the Music Outreach Programme. The children from 1st to 6th classes are also making great progress on the trumpet under the instruction of their teacher Gerry Lacey. We always look forward to our music days. Have a look at what we have being up to……

Aistear

Aistear is well and truly underway in the Junior Room! Aistear is the early childhood curriculum framework for all children from birth to six years in Ireland. It emphasises the importance of play based methodologies in supporting children’s learning and development. Children have an opportunity to explore many subject areas under a common theme. Our theme for this month is ‘The Zoo’. Groups of children explore this topic at various play stations, such as construction, role-play, small world, creative, water/sand and puzzles. It has become one of the highlights of our school day!!! You can learn more about Aistear by visiting www.curriculumonline.ie

Music Outreach Programme

Our pupils from Junior Infants to 6th class are taking part in a six week Music Outreach Programme. This initiative is being sponsored by Mullingar Pantomime Group, an independent group which operates in association with Mullingar Arts Centre.  Tutor, Lorcan Daly will introduce and demonstrate various instruments from the orchestra to the children and everybody will get a chance to try out all the instruments. The pupils will attend a concert on the 24th October when the programme finishes.
